Atlanta Magazine

aI-generated editorial design

Project: AI-Generated Editorial Design
Role: Art Director, Graphic Designer
Services: Concept Development, Editorial Layout, Generative AI Art Direction

The Concept

As a personal creative exploration, I set out to reimagine editorial storytelling using generative AI as a visual tool. Inspired by the energy and eccentricities of Atlanta’s cultural landscape, I designed two conceptual covers and feature spreads for Atlanta Magazine, leveraging AI-generated illustrations to push the boundaries of traditional editorial design.

This self-initiated project served as a sandbox for testing how emerging tools like Midjourney and Adobe Firefly could enhance creative workflows while preserving intentional, human-centered design.

The Process

Each piece began with editorial inspiration, covering themes like urban folklore, local politics, and cultural identity. I used prompt-based illustration generation via Midjourney, then refined and composited the artwork in Photoshop and Firefly to align with magazine-ready standards.

Deliverables included:

  • 2 conceptual magazine covers featuring AI-generated hero artwork

  • 2 interior feature spreads, designed to emulate real-world editorial pacing and structure

While not a published assignment, this project represents a key area of interest in my practice: merging traditional design principles with forward-looking creative tools.
