Project: Brand Identity & Experience Redesign
Role: Creative Director, Visual Designer

The Challenge

The Preserve, a historical nature and garden sanctuary, needed a visual identity as rich and layered as its legacy. The goal was twofold: to honor the deep connection longtime visitors already felt for the land, while welcoming in a new generation of guests just beginning to experience its beauty.

The brand needed to reflect the organization’s mission—to cultivate meaningful, reciprocal relationships between people and the natural world—while maintaining a visual language that could evolve with its expanding educational and ecological initiatives.

The Concept

I led the creative direction and visual execution of a full-scale rebrand that positioned The Preserve as both timeless and forward-thinking. Drawing from the site's natural textures, flora, and history, I created a new visual identity rooted in organic forms, earthy color palettes, and thoughtful negative space.

The new logo is both emblematic and adaptable—able to live gracefully on a trailhead marker or scale boldly on merchandise. Every design element was developed to reinforce a sense of place, connection, and quiet reverence.

Execution

As both Creative Director and Visual Designer, I led every phase of the rebrand:

  • Developed a refreshed logo and brand identity system

  • Designed environmental signage and print collateral

  • Built a comprehensive 100-page brand style guide to ensure long-term consistency

  • Collaborated with stakeholders to align visual direction with educational, environmental, and donor engagement goals

The visual system was built to feel immersive and thoughtful—an extension of the visitor experience itself.

The Impact

The new identity reintroduced The Preserve to its community with clarity, warmth, and purpose. Within a year of launch, the organization saw a 40% increase in brand recognition and a 30% boost in membership and engagement. The rebrand not only reinvigorated the public’s relationship with The Preserve, it gave the organization a flexible, enduring foundation for the future.
